I just bought a 1980 J10 pickup with 90,000 miles on it for just over two grand.
It is all mechanical, which means it is easier to work on. It is the opposite of a "computer with wheels", which is what many luxury cars are today.
I love it. It has a 4-speed manual transmission, 2 or 4 wheel drive, plus low range if I want it. It has a full size bed, and is quite the eye-catcher, since it looks really tough, mean, and beasty.
I can't wait to learn how to rebuild at least the top of the engine, and clean it up to allow it to last forever.
Larry's Comment: Jason...your J10 sounds like a great project truck...and you are correct...they are much easier to work on than today's "computers with wheels".
Send some photos when you can.
