My Jeep CJ7 is a 1983 with the colour - snow white. I think the CJ7 is the finest effort from Jeep to date.
My father suggested me to buy a CJ7 as a direct result of over a decade of wheeling experience with various Jeeps.
Some things that have gone wrong with the Jeep include tie rods rusted steering knuckle. I purchased this 1983 CJ7 in stock condition. The only part that was not stock was the 31 inch tires.
I have done a spring over lift, moved my shock mounts, and added longer shocks, put 33x12.50 Pro Comp mudders with Pro Comp rock crawler rims. I bought 3/8" diamond plate and plated over all the rust areas. I have made front and rear bumpers out of square tubing and added a winch.
I have only taken it off road 2 times since all work done and it has handled well so far. I do have carb issues and I can't seem to get it tuned right.
I love this Jeep. I suggest people who want to get into wheeling purchase a CJ7.
Larry's Comment: These old CJ's were (are) the essence of what the original Jeep concept was all about...spartan..tough..and functional.
