Main preference is the 1990 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. This car had limited competition in the SUV market, rugged styling, and creature comforts such as air conditioning, automatic transmission, a luggage rack, seating for at least 4 adults and room for luggage.
My love affair with the Laredo started as soon as I sat in it. Upon sitting in the driver seat and closing the door for the first time resonated the sound of safety. It was not the sexiest vehicle on the road but it certainly was safest.
Driving from New York City to Vermont for skiing never was an issue. Driving through snow along the way never was a concern. I felt safe and comfortable at all times. This is truly the perfect vehicle to get from point A to point B in because nothing could get in it's way.
Not only was it good in inclement weather but was good to drive anywhere. Refined enough to drive the girlfriend around in, and rugged enough to drive anywhere else. It was the fun car in the group.
The only bad thing about the Laredo is that I was usually picked to drive because everyone loved being in my Laredo. I did not mind being the driver. It meant we were all together and having fun. I sure do miss the Laredo and all the good memories we had.
Hey Detroit, please bring the old Jeep Cherokee Laredo back and do not change the design. Just add all the new technology.
