I had approximately seven years experience in driving the 1998 model Jeep Grand Cherokee TSI model. The vehicle handled very well and had plenty of power, still using the in-line 6 engine. The vehicle did have some initial recalls and factory defects in the rear gate that required it to be taken to the dealership on a couple of occasions. The overall performance and reliability of the Jeep Grand Cherokee was great. However, after 100K+ miles, maintenance starts to become a necessity often. The in-tank fuel pump is something that also starts to malfunction often after 100k. All power interior features work great and make the vehicle convenient to use. This vehicle was used primarily for road travel and to and from work.
