I bought a 1981 Jeep CJ8 for my son, but when it failed inspection, I decided to refurbish it. (replaced a 360 AMC engine; fiberglass tub, hood, and fender; new suspension, wheels and tires; seats; personally fabricated front bumper and rear bumper with swing-away tire carrier, and more.)
I ran the Jeep for about two years, then had a 16-yr. old pull in front of me and wreck it. So....I rebuilt it a second time. This time it took a new frame, front suspension, a rebuilt TH400 tranny, and I upgraded fuel lines, added heim joints and new tie rods, and installed a hydroboost brake system from a '97 Dodge. Still a few tweaks left to go, but I am anxious to get it on the road again.
Larry's Comment: Nice job Clair! I really like the CJ8 Jeep, and would love to have one for myself someday.
