I have a 1967 Jeep CJ5. It has been in my family for years and is currently at my summer home in Nantucket.
I drive it sparingly now as replacement parts are very hard to find these days. It has a 225 cubic inch V6 and it is a rustic gray color. As I said it was handed down in my family, from my father and his father before that.
The roll cage has come in handy many times as my grandfather rolled it across two lanes and was hit lightly by another car in 1973. While the car is old, it is still extremely sturdy and saved my grandfather’s life way back, so how can I really get rid of it?
I am looking to revamp the transmission soon and am thinking of putting in a SM420 transmission, as I have read online that that type works very well.
These cars are great, and are also a great part of Jeep and United States history.
Larry's Comment: Thanks David! Would like to see a photo of your classic CJ5.
