This is 4.0L HO Selectrac 4wd ,heavy duty tow/cooling set up..with AW4 trans.
I have been involved with 4wd's for 30years..traveling through some of the most rugged terrain in Australia.
For value for money and true off road ability there is no question...get a Jeep. Like I have done...you may need to replace certain parts as things wear out, as they do in ALL vehicles. But oh! how satisfying.
I have replaced the following:
fan clutch,
water pump,
serpentine belt,
air cond. overhaul,(one pipe replaced)
front wheel hubs/bearings,
recon trans,transfer case, and
alternator rebuild.
The engine is indestructible. I keep it in perfect running order and change oil each 5000km (important).
Have added...
UHF 40 transmit/60 receive only radio,
roof rack,
driving lights (250w),
electronic brake controller,
aftermarket water temp gauge,
heated seats,
mp3 stereo,video,
storage area, and cargo netting.
I love my Jeep and it shows..good luck with yours.
Larry's Comment: Edmond...as I have said before...Wranglers may be Kings in the Jeep world...but the Cherokee XJ is still royalty in my opinion.
