GRAND CHEROKEE IS THE BEST JEEP EVER

I AM VERY PROUD TO SAY THAT I DRIVE A 2006 5.7L GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED JEEP.

IT HAS 51,000 KM ON THE CLOCK. I ENJOY ITS ENORMOUS ENGINE POWER AND HOW QUICKLY YOU CAN PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. IT'S SORT OF ADDICTIVE.

IN THE PAST WE DID A LOT OF 4X4 TRIPS AND I CAN TELL YOU THIS SUV IS LIKE A TRACTOR ON STEROIDS. IT STOPS AT NOTHING.

THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THE GROUND CLEARANCE. I JUST NEED ABOUT 50 MM OR MORE.

IT'S A PITY THAT JEEPS IN SOUTH AFRICA ARE NOT AS HIGHLY RATED AS TOYOTA LAND CRUISERS.


Larry's Comment: I agree Derik. The Toyota's are nice and quite capable, but a well dressed 4x4 Jeep Grand Cherokee can stand with the best of them in my opinion.

Suspension Lift

The Grand has great capabilities. Old Man Emu (one of several strong Australian manufacturers) makes a 60mm (2 1/2") suspension lift that is very well-behaved on the highway and holds up very well off-road. I've been hammering one of their kits on a TJ for about 225,000 km and it continues high performance. This will open up your wheel wells a bit and allow mounting larger tires. Half the gain in tire diameter becomes added clearance.
