I own a 2007 Jeep Commander.
Living in Florida means that relatives occasionally visit and a trip to the airport is necessary. In case that happens I have the option of putting down the rear seat making the Jeep a 7 passenger. While the area is small back there, it's great in case of an emergency.
Also, the front seats are big and comfortable. I am physically disabled with a bad back, and sometimes even with the a/c on I turn on the heated seat as well with the lumbar support, which works quite well.
You don't need a ladder to get in because it is the perfect height to get in and out comfortably.
The only slight negative I find is the gas mileage. I have a 4.7 V8 and QII. The mileage in the city is about 13.1 MPG and on the highway at about 65 MPH it gets about 20 MPG.
Larry's Comment: It appears you've found the near perfect Jeep for your needs.
It's kind of sad that the Commander has been discontinued from the Jeep stable...but that doesn't mean that they were not a very decent ride.
