Jeep Pickup or Not? Stop the Tease!

Jeep Gladiator Concept Pickup
The automakers are acting more like politicians these days. Half promises...half truths.
Jeep executives strongly hinted at the idea of a new Jeep Pickup becoming available in the very near future...then we find out that they probably won't do anything for some time now due to a reported shortage of company engineers, and the whiners from the Ram truck division.
First of all, the Wrangler 4-door Unlimited is a platform that is already successfully in production...and...a concept Jeep pickup (the
Gladiator for one) was actually built a few years ago on much of the "Unlimited" platform.
So did Jeep lose the Gladiator plans or what? How many engineers do you need to figure this one out?
Okay then, what about the Ram truck division? What's their beef?
If there is a market for Ram pickups (which there is) and a market for a Jeep pickup (which there appears to be)...it would seem like a win-win for Chrysler/Fiat/Jeep all around.
So why worry about what the cry-babies in the Ram truck division think? If they are confident in there ability to make a quality truck for we lowly consumers...then quit the belly-aching.
Also, a Jeep pickup would probably be so much more unique than anything Ram (remember Dodge?)would produce that they would each hold down significantly different niches in the "pickup" world.
One more thing...the Jeep pickup could very easily be offered as a "transformer" option of the Wrangler Unlimited. Slap a cab and a pickup bed on the Wrangler Unlimited frame as an option.
Now how difficult can that be? Good grief!
