A die hard offroader, I have now acquired the new Mahindra & Mahindra THAR.


It's a rage due to its high power to weight ratio, and due to this one quality it can go anywhere.

Yes, where no other vehicle has ventured before...

Those Mahindra (American CJ looking) Jeeps do seem to be the rage there in India...and rightfully so.

If I am not mistaken, didn't the new Thar replace the very popular "Major" also produced by Mahindra?

It will be interesting to see if the Thar is a big hit here in America...assuming it will be made available to the USA market. The Common Rail Diesel (CRD) engine would certainly be a plus.

MAHINDRA MAJOR CONTINUES TO BE PRODUCED

The Mahindra 'Major' continues to be produced for the rural customers due to its low cost and the diesel DI engine.

However,the THAR CRDe is a complete transformation from its original American CJ. The only thing that the THAR CRDe retains is the original CJ 'Outer Shell' and this 'Steel Monster' is almost a ton lighter than the Mahindra Scorpio with an engine almost as powerful as the Scorpio's.

FITMENT OF AC ON THAR BY MAHINDRA

The company will fit the AC on your THAR on advance payment of Rs 25000/- and placement of firm order for the same. You will be charged another Rs 25000/- on fitment as its total cost as told to me is Rs 50000/-.

The Mahindra THAR CRDe 4WD is now available with the factory fitted A/C so what are you all waiting for? I can assure you, it's value for money, whether you want to drive it in the city, on the highway, go for a picnic, offroading, or just feel like covering long distances from place A to B.

Also,ladies are finding it easier to drive than any car because of its height, its power steering and the commanding view it gives all around. To top it all Mahindra has also fitted the engine immobilizer on it.

MAHINDRA DEALER AT AMRITSAR HAD CHARGED ME APPROX Rs 70000/-FOR COMPANY FITTED AC

An advance of Rs 25000/- was taken with promise of Rs 50000/- in total. To my horror I had to finally dish out almost Rs 70000/- to scoot from Universal Motors. There after I have always stayed away from their dealers and my THAR is doing great.
