I drove a '78 CJ-5 in High School (Graduated in 1980). I later found a '78 CJ-5 in fair condition (some rust in the tub) at the lake in 2003.
It took me 9 years to restore it off frame. I installed a Chevy 350 engine, 6" of lift, rebuilt the transmission and transfer-case, full roll cage, Corbeau Seats, Stewart Warner gauges, Painless wiring harness, new fuel lines and brake lines. I am now 99% done and have a wonderful Jeep that I love to drive.
I still don't have the bumpers done yet but should be completed soon along with a 8000lb winch.
